The Sartorialist

I think The Sartorialist is popular not because of the style he photographs necessarily, but because of his photography. He really has a knack for catching people in the natural air they possess. The kind of air that cannot be forced. I really appreciate that, because fashion is so more than just clothes, it’s a personality, and somehow he captures both. His ability to indirectly or directly succeed in getting these people to evoke such an honest presence and engage like that with a camera present AND after meeting them for 5 seconds is unbelievable to me.

Summer is here

At last I finished my drawing class at city college! Ended up being so rewarding. Final project was on film stills and mine's from the movie "Breathless" directed by Godard. Check it out...

Everyone else's! This class was at night and took place in a Jr. high school, so we had to put a lot of the drawings on top of this weird mural thing that bunch of 12 year olds made about living in the Fillmore...

Ladybird

Picked up this ditty today from an old man that sells antiques and records on the street near my apartment. He was so sweet, and told me that this birdhouse was made out of wood from a house in the neighborhood from 1906. Who knows whether or not that's even true but if it's not he's sure got his sweet old man with old stories sales personality down, and a happy customer I am for it. I wanted to paint it, but now that I know it's semi-ancient I might just mount it on my wall, or maybe stick opium poppies in it.
