Drawing final
Will be recreating this image in charcoal for my drawing final (22X23.5 scale). Assignment is on film stills and are to be hung in Lost Weekend video on Valencia after they're completed. My teacher said last year someone got offered $30 for theirs....and thus the amazing financial opportunities available through the art world continue to intrigue me...

Family vault
My Dad just sent me some amazing and ancient pictures from his childhood. They're all from him growing up in Delaware and New Jersey in the mid 50's to early 60's.
My Dad and aunt Terry:

My grandmother had great style too...

Family in New York City 1960. Terry, my Dad, and Eddie, all 6 years apart

Cool Uncle Eddie:

Uncle Eddie and Dad!

James Jean
I really enjoy a lot of James Jean's work(when it's not too anime-ish) and have considered applying to School of Visual Arts in NYC for graduate school mostly because he went there. I particularly am drawn to this piece he did, if there's any drawing/painting that represents the technical quality I hope to achieve someday with my work, it's this one. Flawless.

Polka dots

"A polka dot has the form of the sun which is a symbol of the energy of the whole world, and also the form of the moon which is calm. Round, soft, colorful, senseless and unknowing. Polka dots can't stay alone, like communicative life of people, two and three and more polka dots become movement. Our earth is only one polka dot among a million stars in the cosmos. Polka dots are a way to infinity. When we obliterate nature and our bodies with polka dots, we become part of the unity of our environment. I become part of the eternal, and we obliterate ourselves in Love...Humans are not merely tiny worms even in the vast, eternal universe. They constitute an infinite net of shining polka dots. By Self-Obliteration of myself as a polka dot, my soul will go through incarnations and turn into one of the eternal polka dots in the universe."
